What are you going to do?

As a Data Scientist you support the development of data driven solutions and / or features for VBR’S IOT system DECIDE. But what is DECIDE?

DECIDE is a remote decision support service for effective management of Gas Turbine Operation & Management. It provides gas turbine owners a management dashboard to get insights in technical and economical reliability, upcoming technical failures and analysis of operational efficiency of their gas turbines.

Together with a specialised team you will continuously work on the development and maintenance of the DECIDE system. You search, process, analyses data from different sources to create predictions, understand relations and gain insights regarding the impact for the client. In addition, you will develop, test and implement models for data analyses and predications. You will utilize these models for improving the added value of the DECIDE system for our clients. You ensure that all tasks, improvements and fixes are documented in such a way that your colleagues can trace back any duties performed in case maintenance or fixes in the system are needed. Besides this, you also solve challenges as an expert on statistical methodologies and tools.

Who are you?

The work of a Data Scientist requires extensive knowledge and experience with analytics, statistics and math. In this function you are able to think critically, solve problems and be innovative. In addition, strong communication and presentation skills, the ability to work together and being attentive to customers concerns are also essential in the work of a Data Scientist. You also have:

  • BSc / BA in computer science, data science, software engineering or a similar field;
  • Relevant working experience as a data scientist;
  • Knowledge of and experience with R, SQL, Python, Scala, Java and C++;
  • Understanding of machine learning and operations research;
  • Master the Dutch and English language both in word and writing.
